1. Ride the tram
Inaugurated in 1872, the Porto electric car network is one of the oldest electrified transport systems in Europe. Once one of the main means of transport in the city, nowadays the Porto tram network is reduced to 3 lines. Are they:
- Line 1, Ribeira – Foz do Douro : the tram line best known and most sought after by tourists, for making the trip between Ribeira (classified as world heritage by Unesco) and mouth of the Douro River.
- Line 18, Circular Massarelos – Carmo: circulates in the Clérigos area and goes down towards the Douro River, stopping in front of the Electric Car Museum.
- Line 22, Circular Carmo – Batalha: circulates in the Clérigos area, on Avenida dos Aliados and in front of the beautiful São Bento train station, ending at Batalha square.

2. Climb the Arrábida Bridge
Since 2016, it is possible to climb the arch of Ponte da Arrábida – a unique opportunity to access a place that has been closed to the public for 53 years.
The climb has 262 steps and is done in the company of a guide, with all safety equipment, lasting about 40 minutes (return included).
At the highest point of the arch, 65 m above the river, visitors enjoy an incredible and exclusive landscape. Each time of year offers a memorable experience but, on clear days, it is possible to see part of the bridge of Ponte D. Luís, the towers of the Churches of Marquês, Clérigos and Sé, and even the Serra de Valongo!

5. Watch the sunset at Virtudes Garden (Jardim das Virtudes)
The sunset is a spectacle of nature wherever you are, but in the city of Porto it has another charm. When the end of the day arrives, the beauty of the city intensifies, especially on sunny days, which promise spectacular sunsets.
There are several places to watch the sunset in the city, but one of the best is definitely the Virtudes Garden. Situated at the rear of the Palace of Justice, in the heart of Porto’s historic center, this terraced garden is one of the most beautiful in the city. Here you will have a panoramic view of the Douro River, Vila Nova de Gaia and the Customs building.
At the end of the day, with the sun disappearing over the horizon, an orange tint covers the city and the river, making the landscape breathtaking. A moment not to be missed!
